About our Trust

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital—and a number of community-based services across London, such as award-winning sexual health and HIV clinics.

The Trust has over 6,000 staff proudly serving a million people locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We treat a patient every 40 seconds, performing 34,000 operations and carrying out 391,000 scans, x-rays and procedures each year. As the second largest maternity provider in the country we help deliver a baby almost every hour of the day. We have one of the lowest mortality rates in the country and 90% of our patients would recommend us to family and friends.

About the role

Our West Middlesex site is currently recruiting band 6 sister to our in-patient Paediatric ward

West Middlesex Paediatric department comprises of inpatient, short stay facilities, day care, outpatient clinics, home nursing, play and education services. As a combined Trust with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, we are the lead centre for specialised paediatric and neonatal surgery in North West London. Our short stay unit recently won the Health Service Journal (HSJ) award for acute service development (2017)

As a senior sister you will have responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating clinical care for children requiring high level of nursing care. We focus on developing nursing leaders for the future and therefore provide individualised mentoring and clinical development.

Our role is to create a fertile ground for partnership working and to champion collaboration across both sites addressing areas that add most values to patients, populations, as such we offer rotation to work at our sister site Chelsea and Westminster, thereby maximising opportunities to translate innovation, knowledge and skills into health and wealth benefits for our Paediatric patients at scale and pace.

You will have the opportunity to be a part of our programme of learning and development, including mentorship and leadership programmes as well as externally accredited programmes building on our ethos of nurturing and creating dynamic leaders.

West Middlesex Hospital is based in the heart of the community in the London Borough of Hounslow. The hospital is located in a friendly neighbourhood with a diverse, multi-ethnic population and offers tremendous learning opportunities in community and general paediatrics’. It neighbours the world renowned Kew Gardens and Richmond Park, the largest of London’s Royal parks, and is close to Twickenham stadium - the home of England’s Rugby Union. Our undergraduate and post-graduate education centre is popular for frequent skills training and on-site simulation centre.

The Future

In line with the Healthy London Partnership Children and Young People’s programme for paediatric critical care, we will be introducing two level 1 High Dependency beds within our inpatient ward. This allows us to provide advanced treatments for more critically ill children for example non-invasive ventilation etc. This will be supported by the level 2 High Dependency Unit at our sister site Chelsea, to enable safe and evidence based treatments for our patients. You will have the opportunity to increase knowledge and skills though programmes of learning such as, internal and external study days, accredited University courses aimed at providing continuing professional development.

The future is changing at Chelsea and Westminster, why not come and be a part of our growth?
