About our Trust
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital—and a number of community-based services across London, such as award-winning sexual health and HIV clinics.
The Trust has over 6,000 staff proudly serving a million people locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We treat a patient every 40 seconds, performing 34,000 operations and carrying out 391,000 scans, x-rays and procedures each year. As the second largest maternity provider in the country we help deliver a baby almost every hour of the day. We have one of the lowest mortality rates in the country and 90% of our patients would recommend us to family and friends.
About the role
Our West Middlesex site is currently recruiting band 5 Paediatric Newly Qualified staff Nurses.
West Middlesex Paediatric department comprises of inpatient, short stay facilities, day care, outpatient clinics, home nursing, play and education services. As a combined Trust with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, we are the lead centre for specialised paediatric and neonatal surgery in North West London. Our Neonatal units are one of lowest in the country for morbidity and mortality rates and third highest in London for breast feeding rates (NNAP 2017)
A major redevelopment of our services means we have state of the art paediatric theatres, day-care suite, outpatients department, high dependency unit with paediatric intensive care facilities for elective procedures
As a staff nurse you will have responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating clinical care for children requiring high level of nursing care. We focus on developing nursing leaders for the future and therefore provide individualised mentoring and clinical development.
We offer both preceptorship and rotations opportunities. Our preceptorship is open to rotation and non-rotation candidates at both sites and comprises of 11 learning support modules throughout the programme.
The rotation programme allows you to rotate within the paediatric areas at West Middlesex, between paediatrics and our special care baby unit and /or cross-site rotation in order to increase knowledge and skills from a wider range of specialism including gastrointestinal and surgical ward, medicine and oncology, Paediatric High dependency, paediatric accident and emergency, burns, Paediatric short stay, NICU and our adolescent wards.
You will have the opportunity to be a part of an accelerated programme of learning and development, including preceptorship, mentorship and leadership programme through our Capital nurse programme
